Just to let you all know in plenty of time that we have had an unexpected change in performers for our first concert on Sunday 1 March. Our replacement is Duo Histoire who return to delight us again with their unique blend of music from Argentinian tango to Spanish romantic music, from Bossa Nova standards to Classical repertoire. This unique combination of classical guitar and saxophone features award-winning musicians Murilo Tanouye and Nick Russoniello.
Since its formation in 2006, Duo Histoire has attracted the attention of audiences, appearing in music festivals and giving concerts across the country. Recently the Duo has recorded for ABC Classic FM, broadcast for Fine Music 102.5FM, performed at the Sydney Opera House for the prestigious Utzon Room Series and appeared as soloists with The Metropolitan Orchestra. The Duo’s new album Autumn/Winter can be heard regularly on ABC Classic FM, Radio National and Fine Music 102.5.
Saxophonist Nick Russoniello, one of Australia’s most dynamic young artists, enjoys an exciting and varied performance career both in Australia and abroad. Nick has been the recipient of a number of major awards including the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performer of the Year Award and the Fine Music Kruger Scholarship. Nick has appeared as a soloist with the Adelaide, Canberra, Queensland, Melbourne and Sydney Symphony Orchestras.
Nick appears as a guest musician with Australia’s leading ensembles, these include the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian World Orchestra, Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Acacia Quartet, Omega Ensemble, and Sydney Camerata. He is a sought-after chamber musician and performs regularly as a member of Continuum Sax, Duo Histoire and the Golden Age Quartet.
Born in Brazil, Murilo Tanouye started his musical career learning Bossa Nova and classical guitar. At 16 years of age, Murilo was awarded a full scholarship to study in the US with distinguished American classical guitarist Carl Bernstein and two years later he won another scholarship to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. In 2007 Murilo successfully completed his Bachelor of Music Performance degree with First Class Honours. His performance career across Australia has been extensive and diverse, featuring recitals and concerts with a variety of ensembles and covering cities and regional areas in NSW, QLD, VIC and Tasmania.
This versatile duo combines to provide an evocative, sensitive and sensual musical experience. As Don Burrows has said “Both musicians involved are fine players, whose presentation of exquisite repertoire deserves to be heard by the widest audience”.

Entry is free for children, students and members of Gerringong Music Club. The Club does not charge children and students in order to provide young people the opportunity to hear fine music.
