Diana was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, grew up in Sydney and now enjoys life on the beautiful south coast of New South Wales, Diana’s latest book, Whale Rock is set in a Sydney cafe, Central America and the south coast. Whale Rock has just won Gold Award for Popular Literary

The inspiration for her novel is a secret military hospital in Nicaragua treating soldiers for PTSD in the mid 1980s, the time she was working there as a journalist. She has covered conflicts and politics from Canberra to New York and travel from Suriname to Broome.
Diana has also written about lndigenous and race issues since the late 1970s, authoring several books on Aboriginal affairs, as well as a medical self-help book on how to deal with difficult pregnancies.
Whale Rock is provocative, stormy and sensual. Diana Plater gives us both human brutality and sensitivity in 21st century Australia.
