Saturday 10th August 10:30am – 4pm Kiama Record Fair celebrates Record Store Day with over 20,000 vinyl records and more available for sale at Kiama’s Masonic Hall 46 Collins St. https://www.kiamarecordfair.com.au/

Saturday 17th August 2pm Illawarra Choral Society presents The Sprig of Thyme by John Rutter at Wollongong’s Church on the Mall. In addition there will be other short musical pieces. Information and

Tuesday 27th August 10am Brass Band Bonanza hosted by Kiama
Uniting Church. Full brass band including timbral players with impeccable
timing. Music ranges from sacred to popular. The event commences with morning tea and the concert starts at 10:30am. Entry $10

Saturday 31st August 7pm “Not the Proms but Very Very Close”
at Wollongong Town Hall
Presented by musical groups of Wollongong
Conservatorium including Wollongong Community Orchestra, Curious Rendition Orchestra, Con wind ensemble and starring the Town Hall Pipe Organ. Entry by donation at the door.

Friday 27th -29th September Folk by the Sea at Kiama The sounds of folk, world, roots, celtic, bluegrass and gypsy music. Program details and tickets now available at https://www.folkbythesea.com.au/

Sunday 29th September Acacia Quartet presented by

Rehearsals take place at Jamberoo Chapel Soundspace at Uniting Church hall, 11 Wyalla Road, Jamberoo for all groups except Chapel Consort which rehearses at Shoalhaven Heads – full details below;

KJ String Orchestra Rehearses Thursdays fortnightly 6:30 – 8pm with the next rehearsal on Thursday 8th August. Conductor Dal Oldham has introduced a fresh and exciting new set of music to work on. Derived from great composers of the Austro-Hungarian tradition, the program includes Viennese Waltz, Bohemian Dance and more.Fritz Kreisler, Johann Strauss, Franz Liszt and Antonin Dvorak are amongst the featured composers. String players are welcome to join – no auditions but if you are unsure then feel free to email us to discuss (the music requires a minimum of about Grade 5 ability but we welcome more experienced players too) The next performance date is Thursday 31st October 2019 6:30pm.

Wood & Wind – Combined Chamber Group (Strings/Wind)  This group rehearses Thursdays fortnightly at 6:30pm with the next rehearsal on Thursday 15th July. The group features an eclectic combination of strings,flutes, guitars and more. This term we are playing early music including pieces by Bach, Handel, Dowland, Vivaldi  and others. New players of all levels of ability welcomed. 

Folk Music Session for playing folk tunes or songs from Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, America or from anywhere that you find a tune or a song appealing to play or sing. Wayne Millar leads both this Folk and the Bluegrass group. Next rehearsal is Wednesday 7th August 6:30-8:30pm.  Wealso run a monthly Saturday Jamberoo Folk Session from 11 – 2:30pm featuring guest artists/ local folk musicians in a jam session style workshop that is both social and a chance to mine musical jewels of the folk tradition.

Bluegrass and Old Time Session accommodates musicians that are looking for a bluegrass session where the tunes are played at a slow pace- open to all levels including beginners. For the more experienced there is a chance to play at a faster pace after the tunes have been played slowly. Next rehearsal is Wednesday 14th August 6:30-8:30pm. Chapel Consort meets fortnightly on Friday evenings at GMS Lowlands, Shoalhaven Heads. Next date is Friday 9th August at 6pm. This group is modelled on a traditional English college/church choir but with the difference that the singers are also competent instrumentalists. If you are a good sight-reader and interested in classical, sacred and early music come try us out. We welcome visiting artists from time to time and are in especial need of another violinist and a tenor voice.  Contact Heather on 4448 7590  hmjpowrie@gmail.com .

Drummer Wanted for the Berry Band –Any age bracket welcomed. Drum kit is supplied. Many styles of music played so the ability to read drum music is important. Monday night rehearsals at 7pm. We are desperate

Jamberoo weekly Singing Circle gets together Mondays 6:30pm – 7:30pm at Jamberoo Chapel Soundspace, 11 Wyalla Rd. Inexperienced and beginner singers are very welcome at this  independent group. It is run by Kate Armstrong,singer songwriter who is also experienced in teaching yoga and vocal toning. Kate uses posture work and vocal warmups with a view to incorporating rhythm, harmony and group singing to enhance wellbeing and relaxation. Kate emphasizes that it is an opportunity for beginners to explore what they are capable of. Sessions will be $15 but first session is free.
