Printmaker Colin Harwood
Colin Harwood studied at Broken Hill High School before training as a Metallurgical Chemist at Broken Hill South Ltd and studying for a Science Degree through the local University College. After moving to Sydney to finish his degree and working in chemical research at the University of NSW, he lectured in chemistry at the Canberra Technical College.
Upon retiring from his own business in 2009 he attended the West Wollongong Art School where he graduated with a Diploma in Visual Art in 2013.
His main artistic interest is in printmaking and in 2015 set up Empirical Print, a studio concentrating on experimental printmaking. Printmaking is currently undergoing a revival using new non-toxic processed and Colin applies his chemical knowledge to produce etchings, relief prints, and mono prints using a variety of materials. His principle subject matter is Kiama and its surrounding countryside.
Colin exhibits through the Kiama Art Society and has won a number of art awards in recent years.
