Last String Orchestra rehearsal for year takes place Thursday 13th December at 6:30pm – Starts back Thursday 7th February.

 Last Wood & Wind group rehearsal for year takes place Thursday 20th December at 6:30pm – Starts back Thursday 31st January.

The folk musicians will not be stopped – they continue as usual Wednesday nights 6:30pm to 8:30pm throughout December and January including Boxing Day!

The Association email will continue to be attended throughout the break so if you have any musical ideas or notices or just feel like playing music with somebody please let us know and we’ll do our best to connect you up.

Wednesday 12 December 7-9pm Kiama Community Carols in the Park

Sunday 16 December 7:30pm Festival of Carols at Uniting Church Kiama. The theme this year is “Christmas through Music and Art”. The presentation will  involve a community choir presenting stories and music which will accompany pictures depicting works of art illustrating the Christmas story. There will be an opportunity for the audience to join in with some familiar favourite carols too. Wendy Leatheam has directed the presentation to popular acclaim in previous years and the community choir is thrilled to welcome her back this year. Piano accompaniment provided by the accomplished Steve Leatheam.

Friday 21 December 7pm Quiet Christmas in the Chapel. A variety of vocal and instrumental items from different musical genres to round out Advent and reflect on Christmas.

Kiama Jamberoo Fortnightly Community Music Activities

Rehearsals take place at Jamberoo Chapel Soundspace at Uniting Church hall, 11 Wyalla Road, Jamberoo for the following groups; 

KJ String Orchestra  last rehearsal this term Thursday 13 December at 6:30pm.  Starting up again Thursday 7 February 2019. Music from the Classical Period is the specialty of this group. This term some of the pieces we are rehearsing are Elgar’s Chanson de Matin, A duo for two solo strings and string orchestra by Johann Michel, more movements from Grieg’s Holberg Suite. There will not be a performance this term but we plan to do one in the new year.

Wood& Wind – Combined Chamber Group (Strings/Wind) Last rehearsal this term is Thursday 20 December at 6:30pm in preparation for performance at Quiet Christmas evening 21st December.Start back on Thursday 31 January 2019. Pamela Harris directs this group which is an eclectic combination of strings, flutes, guitars and mandolins and occasional drum. New players welcome.

Folk Music Session for playing folk tunes or songs from Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, America or from anywhere that you find a tune or a song appealing to play or sing. Wayne Millar leads both this Folk and the Bluegrass group.Next rehearsal is Wednesday 12th December 6:30-8:30pm.  

Bluegrass and Old Time Session accommodates musicians that are looking for a bluegrass session where the tunes are played at a slow pace – open to all levels including beginners. For the more experienced there is a chance to play at a faster pace after the tunes have been played slowly. Next rehearsal is Wednesday 19 December 6:30-8:30pm. Chapel Consort meets on Friday evenings fortnightly at Griff Music Studio in Shoalhaven Heads and rehearsals recommence in January. The group welcomes singers and instrumentalists who are interested in classical, sacred and early music.
