We’re writing with a reminder about writing.
We’re commissioning writers to produce works on the theme of “community” for the December issue of Our Community Matters.
We’re inviting pitches for fiction and non-fiction short stories, poems, essays and features on any aspect of community, including – but not limited to – your community, community groups, community events, community at Christmas, community and family, or what community means to you.
Authors of published contributions will be paid at the rate of 70 cents per published word, with a pitching stage closing at 4 pm on Monday, 29 October.
That’s soon, yes, but don’t panic. If you’ve got an idea for a piece you’d like to write for the Our Community Matters summer reading special, click below to complete a quick pitch form before 4 pm on Monday. At this stage, we just need to know a bit about you and your idea.
If your pitch is successful, we’ll contact you by Wednesday October 31, commissioning you to write for us. You must submit your finished work by 4pm on Sunday November 25.
For full details about what we are looking for, word lengths, deadlines and the small handful of rules we’ve put in place, you can read more, here.
We’ve received a number of interesting pitches but we know that there are more wonderful, warming, interesting and inspiring stories out there, within the Our Community membership.
