We are excited to let everyone know that Joseph Tawadros AM, composer and virtuoso of the Oud, a Middle Eastern Lute will soon be touring.

Now based in London, he starts a new music tour of Australia in October. His brother James, also a world-class musician will join him playing Middle Eastern percussive instruments. Together they present a thrilling mix of Middle Eastern, Jazz and traditional sounds with contemporary innovations.

There is only one performance scheduled on the South Coast and this will be an intimate evening of music and story telling in the historic chapel at Jamberoo Uniting Church, 11 Wyalla Rd at 7pm on Saturday 17th November 2018.

Joseph is a 4 times Aria award winning composer and performer. In 2016 he was awarded the Order of Australia for his service to music and the arts. Many will have heard or seen him on the ABC. Whilst he is a fine soloist and story teller, he also enjoys composing for and collaborating with other musicians such as Sydney Symphony Orchestra and German counter tenor Andreas Scholl. On his New York album, Joseph recorded with great Jazz artists including pianist Matt McMahon, guitarist John Abercrombie, bassist Christian McBride and eclectic banjoist Bela Fleck. Coming up Musically 

Sunday 28th October 3pm Concert Pianist Ambre Hammond launches her second album of exquisite original compositions. “Night Flowers” is a collaboration of music and photography between Ambre and photographer James O’Toole. James captured 24 night-images of flowers in gardens around Sydney. Also on the program are classical works by Chopin and Liszt. Tickets $25 at

Sunday 11th November 2:30pm Serenata Series in Kangaroo Valley welcomes Timothy Constable percussion. Described as a Travelogue of music from across the world, the performance features marimba, vibraphone, gongs and other percussion instruments . Timothy’s is a permanent member of the Sydney Symphony orchestra and has made an eclectic and award-winning musical journey thus far. Kiama Jamberoo Fortnightly Community Music Activities

Rehearsals take place at Jamberoo Chapel Soundspace at Uniting Church hall, 11 Wyalla Road, Jamberoo for the following groups;

Wood & Wind – Combined Chamber Group (Strings/Wind) starts rehearsals for the new term on Thursday 25th October at the new time of 6:30pm. Pamela Harris, is coordinating an enchanting program of early music and Christmas pieces. This group is an eclectic combination of strings, flutes, guitars and mandolins and occasional drum. New players welcome

Bluegrass and Old Time Session accommodates musicians that are looking for a bluegrass session where the tunes are played at a slow pace – open to all levels including beginners. For the more experienced there is a chance to play at a faster pace after the tunes have been played slowly. Next rehearsal is next Wednesday 24th October 6:30-8:30pm. Chapel Consort continues to sing for their (pizza) supper on Friday evenings fortnightly at 6:30pm. They are welcoming multi-talented musicians to join them and still need a tenor voice. They are working towards playing at the Remembrance Day Service at 6:15pm in Jamberoo Uniting Church on 11th November and thereafter for the quiet Christmas Evening at the Church on 21st December.
