Saturday 25th August Kiama Record Fair at Masonic 11am-4pm a pop up musical event featuring rock, pop, funk, soul, hip-hop and other musical genres on vinyl for sale plus miscellaneous musical paraphernalia.  Hosted by Kiama’s Johnny the Fox whose record store now has a new home on Collins St across from the terrace houses and My Vinyl Revolution (of Coal Coast Record Fair). Enjoy a musical day out with DJs on hand to create the right vibe. More information at

Saturday 25th August at Berry School of Arts & Sunday 26th August at Nowra School of Arts 2:30pm The Shoalhaven Lydian Singers present Measure for Measure The immortal words of Shakespeare set to music. Information can be found at

Tuesday 28th August at 10am Salvation Army Band will present an inspiring concert at Kiama Uniting Church followed by morning tea.

Sunday 2nd September Wendy Hiscocks (Piano) & Phillipa Mo (Violin) will present a program as guests of Gerringong Music Club at Gerringong Town Hall. Pieces include Violin Sonatas by Elgar and Debussy, Arthur Benjamin’s Humoresque, Arabesque and Carnavalesque as well as The Flame and Caprice composed by Wendy herself. For more info go to

Kiama Jamberoo Fortnightly Community Music Activities

Rehearsals take place at Jamberoo Chapel Soundspace at Uniting Church hall, 11 Wyalla Road, Jamberoo.

KJ String Orchestra continues rehearsals this Thursday 9th  August at 6:30pm. Players of all ages and abilities are welcome (if you’re not sure how you would go, call us for a chat!)  Dal Oldham, our conductor, has chosen a variety of classical pieces ranging from Mozart to Mendelssohn and we’ll be working toward a Classical recital in the beautiful chapel at Jamberoo Uniting Church on the evening of Thursday 4th October 2018.

Wood & Wind – Combined Chamber Group (Strings/Wind) next rehearses Thursday 16th August at 6:15pm, we’ll stop halfway for a cuppa and finish practise at 8pm. Pamela Harris has taken on the musical direction for this term’s Latin inspired program and we look forward to working toward the next music association social/musical event – Latin Spring on Saturday 6th October 2018. This group is an eclectic combination of strings, flutes and mandolins and welcomes new players this term, especially if you enjoy tango!

Folk Music Session for playing folk tunes or songs from Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, America or from anywhere that you find a tune or a song appealing to play or sing. Wayne Millar leads both this Folk and the Bluegrass group. Next rehearsal is this Wednesday 8th August 6:30-8:30pm.

Bluegrass and Old Time Session accommodates musicians that are looking for a bluegrass session where the tunes are played at a slow pace – open to all levels including beginners. For the more experienced there is a chance to play at a faster pace after the tunes have been played slowly. Next rehearsal is next Wednesday 15th August 6:30-8:30pm. Illawarra Folk Club Festival Folk by the Sea takes place again in Kiama 21 – 23 September 2018. Applications are open for a range of volunteer positions including billeting of musicians.
