Players of a range of abilities are welcome (if you’re not sure how you would go, call us for a chat!) Dal, our conductor continues with his entertaining and educational style and for those who enjoy performing, there will be a matinee concert at 10am in the chapel on Saturday 30th June 2018 featuring highlights by the String Orchestra as well as some solo instrumental pieces. Admission is by donation.
SoundScape – Combined Chamber Group (Strings/Wind) next rehearses Thursday 7th June at the new time of 6:15pm, we’ll stop halfway for a cuppa and finish practise at 8pm. Heather, our director, will be working on preparing Rondino by D.L. Simpson and arrangements of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Sari Marais to perform at our Winter social get together. This will take place Saturday afternoon, 30th June at 12 and will include a soup lunch followed by performances from several of the Association’s musical groups. A chance for all members and guests to catch up, hear some good music and interact with other musical genres. Admission $10 at the door includes lunch.
Folk Music Session for playing folk tunes or songs from Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, America or from anywhere that you find a tune or a song appealing to play or sing. Wayne Millar leads both this Folk and the Bluegrass group. Next rehearsal is this Wednesday 30th May 6:30-8:30pm.
Bluegrass and Old Time Session accommodates musicians that are looking for a bluegrass session where the tunes are played at a slow pace – open to all levels including beginners. For the more experienced there is a chance to play at a faster pace after the tunes have been played slowly. Next rehearsal is Wednesday 6th June 6:30-8:30pm.
