Saturday 9 June at 2.30pm in Kiama Family History Centre
This will be the Annual General Meeting of the KDHS and we guarantee that formalities will be concluded in a timely fashion so that we can enjoy Bobbie’s talk!
Bobbie is well known to many of us as a former manager of Kiama Library whose study of architecture prior to becoming a librarian contributed so much to the design of the wonderful library which we now enjoy. Bobbie will be highlighting buildings in Sydney and the Illawarra which were designed by notable early architects such as Francis Greenway, John Verge, Edmund Blacket and James Barnet. Of particular interest will be buildings in our local area. For example, Edmund Blacket, who designed such prominent buildings as Sydney University and St Andrew’s Cathedral, also designed churches at Kiama, Jamberoo and Gerringong. Bobbie will be talking about the buildings, the various building styles they demonstrate, and the architects themselves. A very interesting afternoon ahead for us.
