Saturday 2 June, 2.00pm @ Kiama Family History Centre
We extend a warm welcome to Jack Baker, an Illawarra teacher, ornithologist, bureaucrat and biologist who will be talking (at least among other things!) about his first published collection of poetry Soaring, described as a celebration of Australian natural heritage, mingled with Jack’s unique style and sense of humour. Soaring is published under the moniker Jack Oats.
Jack is an Honorary Principal Fellow of the Wollongong University with research interests in, and numerous publications on, conservation biology and management of threatened fauna, including the eastern bristlebird, ground parrot and declining woodland birds; linking ecological research and policy and management; and indigenous cultural input to biodiversity planning. (He is also keen on semi-colons).
This should be a very enjoyable event, and his collection of poems is really absolutely delightful!
As with all our standard monthly events this year, Jack’s talk will be followed by afternoon tea, and all are welcome at a donation of $5 for members and $8 for visitors.
