Next year we are reaching out to communities in Kiama, Berry, Burrawang and Nowra, as well as our Wollongong Art Gallery audience, with music you will love.
Great Chamber Music
In March, hear the beautiful Dvorak “American” quartet and Mendelssohn’s A minor quartet played by the full string orchestra, as well as short works by Australian composers.
Strings with Voices
In June/July, we team up with Wollongong vocal group con voci and leading vocal soloists to perform some of the great works and sacred music written for orchestra and voice. This program if offered in response to your requests for this combination.
“I love classical music. It has left a major mark on my playing.” – SLASH
September’s program, Hindson’s Australia, is a celebration of the 50th birthday of Matthew Hindson, born in Wollongong and now one of the most internationally performed composers of his generation. He was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2006 for “service to the arts as a leading Australian composer and teacher of music, and through the wide promotion of musical works to new audiences”. Matthew will compose a new work for the occasion, and design the program around works that have influenced him.
