June 13/14 2015 – Painting in oils for all levels – Kim Shannon

In this weekend workshop there will be guidance to suit your level of experience. We will begin by preparing boards. Working from still life arrangements, there will be help with composition, and tips on tone and mixing colours, and ways of using paint, there will also be advice on presenting the board.

$190 for 2 days + a material charge     10-4pm each day

Gabriella Hegyes – August 8,9,10  2015 – Encaustic mixed media:

Experience the joy and versatility of this rich, organic medium as you learn some encaustic techniques. Explore encaustic collage, image transfer, incising, smooth and textural painting as well as embedding textiles and other materials into wax; – This introduction will provide participants with a foundation to further explore the endless possibilities provided by this dynamic medium.

August 29/30   2015 – Seraphina Martin – Monoprinting, Drypoint and the joy of Chine Collee

Explore the many textures and forms inherent in natural organic matter such as leaves, mesh, feathers as well as everyday objects to create stunning monoprints. Many shadow prints from these monoprints will be printed onto Rice papers and used for Chine Collee. Drypoint etching will also be covered in the workshop exploring collage.The chine collee  rice paper impressions resulting from mpnoprinting session, will be used to enhance your drypoint images  to emphasise texture and colour.This cross over of techniques results in stunning  compositions, reflecting texture, colour and the unexpected, often found  in a unique state print.

September 19/20  2015 – Anita Larkin – Working with Metals 

This workshop will inspire you with ways of working with soft metals to create

sculptures. Students will learn how to pop rivet sheet metal together, make your

own tube rivets, cut and shape sheet metal effectively, join wire with a

soldering iron, and how to soft solder copper and brass objects together. Please

note the course does not cover welding or forging. Take this opportunity to

create and learn how to join and work soft metals with the guidance of Anita

Larkin.

December 5/6 – Tim Winters – An introduction to multicolour printing with etched lino

Introduction to etching lino using caustic soda, including;  preparing the solution, preparing the lino, making a registration board, printing in more than one colour from the one plate, and setting up the press.

Tim Winters works across a variety of media; drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. His work is included in major collections, including Artbank, AGNSW, Print Council of Australia, Australia-Japan Society, ICOMOS, and regional art galleries. In 2015 he is having a major survey show, The Poetry of Space, at the Orange Regional Gallery..

… my artwork is focused on the interpretation of the Australian landscape… the colours, shapes, textures; the interaction of man and land; fencelines, roads, scars, scratches… the diamond light and the stormy skies…
