Discover why so many people are fascinated by feltmaking!

Workshop 1

Saturday 1st November 9:30am – 4:30pm
You will be amazed at how you can use warm soapy water, soft tufts of colourful wool, and some pressure, to create beautiful handmade felt of your own design. Make a felt rug as a group by rolling the wool underfoot and learn about the cultural history of feltmaking.

Anita will teach various techniques of traditional design with which you can create your own symbols and patterns. You will also make a seamless felt pouch without any sewing by using the resist method of feltmaking. This is a fun, creative and tactile experience of an ancient art form still practiced today.

Workshop 2 – Felted teapot cosy, hat, or vessel

Sunday 2nd November 9:30am – 4:30pm
You will have a fun day learning how to make your own pattern for a resist and calculate shrinkage for making your own hat, teapot cover or a sculptural vessel. Learn methods of creating three-dimensional shapes in felt, working directly from the wool fibres without any sewing. The method is magic! You will turn soft wool into rounded robust felted shapes with your own hands. This is your chance to felt with and learn skills from one of our regions best-known feltmakers.
