To celebrate National Book week Kiama Library is running a special competition designed to inspire the artist within.
Residents are encouraged to get creative by slicing, dicing, folding and morphing an old book into a sculpture for our first ever Book Sculpture Competition.
Any book, within reason, can be entered into the competition. Recreate a scene from your favourite book or just let your imagination roam free.
Residents of all ages are welcome to get involved, with three age categories:
- Under 12
- 12-18 and
- 18 and over.
Prizes will be awarded in each category.
The theme for Book Week (16-22 August) is “Connect to reading – Reading to Connect,” which aims to help people reconnect with literature.
‘Connect to reading’ is about enjoying the experience of exploring a story, and travelling to other worlds. The reflected slogan, ‘Reading to connect,’ reflects how enjoyment of literature can help people connect with one another.
Pick up an entry form at the front desk of the Kiama Library and start sculpting!
Entries must be in by 5.30pm Monday 11 August 2014.
